Each year the annual pledge campaign funds a major portion of our operating budget. In gratitude to God for the many blessings of life, members and friends of Grace Church pledge a financial gift to help advance the work of the Lord through this parish. You can read the 2010 brochure here.
A new pipe organ for Grace Church is currently under construction in the workshop of Taylor and Boody Organbuilders. When complete, the new Grace Church organ will be truly one of the great instruments in North America. You can read all about it at taylorandboody.com and chart its progress. You can help hasten the day of its arrival in NYC by "adopting," or purchasing one or more of the thousands of pipes that will make it sing. Members and music supporters of Grace Church have been adopting pipes in memory of departed loved ones, to honor family and friends at significant occasions, and to celebrate anniversaries. To learn more about Adopt A Pipe, you can read the brochure by clicking here.
On December 21, 2008 the congregation of Grace Church observed the 200th anniversary of our first worship service together as a parish family. To celebrate our bicentennial we have launched a capital campaign to fund the complete interior restoration of the church. Plaster, paint, stained glass, carved stone and woodwork all need serious attention, as well as the replacement of the entire organ. In all, $7.5 million is needed. The Bicentennial Campaign currently stands at $4.6 million, and the work is underway. Now that the economy seems to be improving, we will re-launch the campaign in 2010, with a goal of securing the necessary pledges by June. Members and friends of Grace Church have made sacrificial gifts, with payments that can be spread out over five years. We hope that you will join us in restoring what the Municipal Art Society once called "one of the seven buildings in Manhattan worth preserving at all costs."
Each week the altar of Grace Church or the Chantry (chapel) can be adorned with flowers in celebration of happy events, or to remember departed loved ones. Also at Christmas and Easter festive floral arrays throughout the church add joy to the seasons. We hope that you will consider contributing to the flower fund.
The music page of the Grace Church website can tell you all about the ambitious choral and organ program by which we seek to praise and glorify God. Throughout the year guest musicians and special programs all require additional funding.
The Vestry Fund for Outreach was established in 2009 to help alleviate homelessness and hunger in New York City. Interest income from the fund is available to the Outreach Committee of Grace Church each year to make grants to agencies of mercy here in the city. The more the fund is able to grow, the more we can help the disadvantaged reach a better life.
Saving Grace NYC is a separately incorporated 501(c)(3) solely devoted to the maintenance and restoration of the landmark architecture of Grace Church. Since Saving Grace NYC is not a religious corporation, it is able to receive matching corporate grants, and gifts from individuals who may wish to preserve the beauty of the historic buildings, while not necessarily funding the Christian mission of the church.
